Riser Handling Systems

IHC Merwede's riser handling systems are a complete system solutions for the storage and handling of marine risers onboard well intervention vessels.

Pending on customer requirements and available deck space, our system design can be based on horizontal or vertical storage. Our compact riser handling concept basically consists of two separate parts, the riser storage crate and the handling system itself.

Main system functions:

  • Handling at storage location;
  • Gripping of joint by H2V* system;
  • Translating to moonpool centre;
  • Tilting to moonpool centre;
  • Positioning above moonpool;
  • Releasing of joint by H2V* system;
  • Translating to rest position;
  • Tilting to rest position;
  • Positioning in rest position.

 

 

  • Joint positioning in 4 degrees of freedom;
  • Suitable for all riser types independent from connection type;
  • Adaptable to handle casing and drill pipe;
  • Small footprint;
  • Easy to integrate on existing vessels;
  • Safe operations, no swinging loads;
  • Accurate positioning by rack & pinion drives;
  • Low centre of gravity;
  • All motions are hydraulically controlled;
  • Safe handling without manual labour.
