Module Handling Towers

Excellence in system design and vessel integration is the key to safe, reliable and efficient launch and recovery of e.g. subsea modules, coiled tubing, risers, and subsea lubricating systems (SLS) through a vessel moon pool.

IHC Merwede's highly advanced Module Handling Towers (MHT’s) are custom made, using proven IHC technologies, adapted to comply with your vessel layout and specific application demands.

Our innovative Active Heave Compensation System (AHCS) assures soft landing and recovery of your valuable equipment. By adding two additional functions to an ordinary AHCS, a Quick Lift Boost (QLB) and a Power Lift Boost (PLB), IHC Merwede's AHCS requires minimum installed hoisting power without doing concessions to safety and reliability.

Our Module Handling Towers typically feature:

  • Maximum safe operational speed;
  • Well intervention equipment or modules parked in tower;
  • Movable service platforms for easy tool & tower access;
  • Personnel lift (optional);
  • Maximum moon pool accessibility (4 sides);
  • Cursors for safe equipment guidance through moonpool;

  • Low centre of gravity (COG);
  • Hoist winches located outside tower;
  • Deep sea lowering capabilities;
  • Hoist system with multi-functional AHCS;
